Elon Musk confirms the real reason he wore sunglasses throughout the entire CPAC conference

Elon Musk is never far from the news these days, but alongside allegations he’s secretly fathered a 13th child and his ex making public pleas to him on X, these are just a few of the reasons he continues to grab headlines.

When he’s not trying to rescue astronauts from the International Space Station or batting off accusations from his own father that he’s a bad dad, Elon Musk is taking his role as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency very seriously. Although it’s not an official position within the White House, Musk has certain powers as a “special government employee.”

The head of the DOGE has vowed to try and slash $2 trillion from government spending, but as well as facing some severe backlash from the public, he’s also been ordered to destroy financial information on millions of Americans.

Musk recently sent shockwaves around the world by putting Medicare in his crosshairs at the Conservative Political Action Conference, but this was far from the conference’s wildest moment involving the world’s richest man. During one bizarre interaction, Argentinian President and Trump ally Javier Milei presented Musk with a gilded chainsaw. While taking to the stage with Newsmax host Rob Schmitt on the second day of CPAC, Milei gave Musk the chainsaw as a metaphor for the cuts he’s making to the federal government.

When we thought the Tesla CEO being handed a sci-fi picture of himself was the strangest moment, Musk was keen to top it.

Others were confused by Musk’s general appearance and why he spent the entire right-wing conference wearing a pair of oversized sunglasses.

Wearing sunglasses and a gold chain, Musk also sported a top that read, “I’m not procrastinating I’m doing side quests.”

Musk became a series of soundbites, saying, “I am become meme,” at one point and then adding, “My mind is a storm.”

Critics said he could barely string a sentence together, and while Grimes was trending at the time, the second trending topic was ‘ketamine’ as X was flooded with claims that the billionaire had taken an illicit substance.

At least we’ve gotten to the bottom of why he was wearing sunglasses, with Musk confirming it was related to a promise in 2024 that he made if Donald Trump was elected President again.

In another memeworthy rant, Musk doubled down on Trump’s claims that the Fort Knox gold depository isn’t real. The POTUS said he wanted to visit the military base to make sure the gold is there,” while Musk expanded at CPAC by saying: “We just wanna see it and make sure somebody didn’t spray paint lead or something.”

Musk was followed on the stage by former Trump advisor Steve Bannon, who has called Musk a ‘parasitic illegal immigrant’ that “wants to impose his freak experiments and play-act as God without any respect for the country’s history, values or traditions.” Although some were hoping for a Mike Tyson and Logan Paul-inspired clash between the pair, they didn’t share the stage.

Despite his critics, Musk got some of the biggest cheers of the conference and earned many a standing ovation.

Ontario has cancelled its $100 million Starlink contract in response to Trump’s tariffs.

Premier of Ontario, Doug Ford, announced that the province has scrapped its contract with Elon Musk’s satellite internet company Starlink.

The move was in retaliation to President Donald Trump’s trade measures against Canada, reported CBC.

Ford also announced that all US-based companies would be banned from future provincial contracts, accusing Trump of ‘choosing chaos’ over cooperation.

“It’s done, it’s gone,” Ford said, referring to the contract. “We won’t award contracts to people who enable and encourage economic attacks on our province and our country.”

The decision follows the US President’s announcement of new ‘catastrophic’ tariffs on Canadian exports, including 25 percent tariffs on Canadian exports and 10 percent tariffs on Canadian energy.

The 60-year-old justified the move by claiming Canada, Mexico and China should be held ‘accountable for their promises to halt the flood of poisonous drugs into the US.’ However, the tariffs have been delayed for a second time due to uncertainty and blowback from financial markets.

In a comment that further strained relations, Trump suggested that the only way for Canada to avoid tariffs was to become America’s 51st state.

Ford didn’t take kindly to the remark. In response, he threatened to cut off power to 1.5 million US customers and placed a 25% surcharge on electricity exports to New York, Michigan and Minnesota.

Ford said: “This is not the outcome anyone wanted. “We could have poured our efforts into making Canada and the US the two richest, most successful, safest, most secure two countries on the planet. Unfortunately, one man — President Trump — has chosen chaos instead.”

SpaceX‘s subsidiary Starlink signed a contract with Ontario in November 2023 to provide high-speed internet to 15,000 rural and remote homes by summer 2025.

SpaceX is one of Musk’s many tech ventures, alongside his responsibilities of serving as a close ally of Trump and heading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

The decision to pull the plug has raised concerns for remote communities that struggle with internet access.

Sol Mamakwa, the Ontario NDP MPP for Kiiwetinoong, said the cancellation could leave many northern communities with even fewer options for connectivity.

“My initial post of it was essentially to the people that messaged me from the north in my riding on how it’s going to impact them,” Mamakwa said, adding that those who have already subscribed to Starlink will not be affected.

Elsewhere, Ontario’s liquor wholesaler and retailer has confirmed it will no longer buy or sell US alcohol. If the trade war continues, the province fears it could lead to a disaster in many Ontario industries, like auto manufacturing and steel production.

“We also need to be ready to dig in for a long fight,” Ford pointed out. “We need to be ready to escalate using every tool in our tool kit.”

Elon Musk issues brutal 5-word response after late night show mocks White House Tesla ‘showroom’

Elon Musk has once again spoken out against skits involving his White House antics on late night TV, as a Daily Show ‘Tesla Auto Mall’ video has drawn a ‘brutal’ response from the car company’s CEO on X.

You begin to lose count of the people that Elon Musk has clashed with on X in the past few months alone, as he’s had fiery spats with everyone from horror icon Stephen King to Mike Myers and SNL.

He’s certainly giving these detractors plenty of ammunition to play with due to his new high profile role in American politics at the right hand of US President Donald Trump, and it’s once again not taken much to strike the nerve of the richest man in the world.

Following a bizarre publicity stunt that saw President Trump promoting Tesla outside of the White House alongside it’s CEO and ‘founder’ Musk, Jon Stewart’s The Daily Show decided to produce a satirical advert depicting the White House as an ‘auto mall’.

It’ll instantly make you recall trashy adverts for dodgy used car dealerships, with Trump’s breakdown of the electric vehicle’s qualities at the heart of it all.

“So don’t waste your time going to those other Tesla dealerships with riots and flaming Cybertrucks, you’ve gotta come down to White House Tesla Auto Mall,” the skit ends.

Naturally it caught the attention of Musk after being posted to his own social media platform, to which he offered his own five word response:

“Thanks for helping sell Teslas!! [laughing emoji]” Musk joked, but if recent reports of a sales decline and significant stock market losses are anything to consider, he might well need all the help he can get.

He’s certainly getting that from the President though, as The Daily Show’s sketch – like Myers’ portrayal of Musk – isn’t too far from the truth.

Trump’s appearance alongside a MAGA-esque red Tesla was nothing short of an advertisement, as he claimed that he’s buying a ‘brand new Tesla’ despite the fact that he’s not actually allowed to drive one himself.

On top of this, President Trump indicated that anyone who ‘messes with’ Tesla will be put ‘through hell’ after outlining that people targeting Tesla dealerships will be treated as ‘domestic terrorists’.

You don’t need to look back too far to see a wildly different stance from Trump on the rise of electric vehicles, as resurfaced comments show that he believed they were ‘destroying our once great USA’ and should ‘rot in hell’.

Close affiliation with Musk appears to have cured this distaste for EVs despite once claiming that they were “the idea of the Radical Left Fascists, Marxists, & Communists,” much like his opinion shift on Musk himself.

Elon Musk claims he’s owed $56,000,000,000 from Tesla as he launches new court appeal

Musk has claimed that ‘legal errors’ were previously made

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has begun an appeal process to restore the $56,000,000,000 pay package from the electric car company that he claims was denied in a ‘legal error’.

Despite being undeniably the richest man in the world, Elon Musk continues his crusade for more money by pushing for an ‘unfathomable’ pay package from Tesla that he claims he is rightfully owed.

Awarded all the way back in 2018, this particular pay package resulted in major growth for the electric car manufacturer, as per Reuters, but was ordered to be rescinded by Chancellor Kathaleen McCormick through Delaware law proceedings.

Chancellor McCormick indicated that the staggering pay package was “unfathomable” and unfair to shareholders, as directors were ‘beholden’ to Musk as CEO, alongside accusations that Tesla withheld key information from investors before they successfully voted to approve the pay package.

Musk has now launched his own appeal to McCormick’s decision, claiming instead that multiple legal errors were made in the application of the ‘entire fairness’ legal standard.

His legal representatives argue that Chancellor McCormick incorrectly determined that the Tesla directors that approved the pay package were conflicted in their business efforts, and that her assessment of the company’s failure to disclose information was a fault.

What remains critical about this particular pay package is it’s relevance to the current stock price of Tesla, even with a rapidly falling valuation over the past few weeks despite a push of support from President Trump.

The pay package, if successfully awarded, allows Musk to purchase roughly 303 million stock options in the company at around $23 each, which is essentially 10% of the most recent $230.58 closing price on Tuesday (March 11) night, and pales in comparison to the highs of around $492.77 at the end of last year.

Musk’s purchase price if awarded these stocks would be around $6,969,000,000 – which is around just 2.2% of his total current net worth – but if he sold it at that $230.58 closing price he’d earn himself $69,865,740,000, which would boost his net worth by 20%.

Conversely, Musk will likely feel as if he’s lost significant value due to the fact that Tesla is significantly lower than it’s all-time high on the stock market, and if he had indeed held this pay packet at the $492.77 evaluation then his net worth would have almost doubled, increasing by $149,309,310,000.

This is quite a different approach compared to key rival Sam Altman, who currently holds no stock options for OpenAI and only receives a $76,000 yearly wage from the company, and in addition Musk has threatened to move his efforts elsewhere and procure development outside of Tesla if he cannot increase his stake in the company.

Elon Musk reveals horrifying ‘biggest danger’ of SpaceX rescue mission that could’ve resulted in death of entire crew

‘When it’s coming back, it’s coming in so fast, it’s a blazing meteor’

286 days after they first set out on their mission to the International Space Station, Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore are finally back on dry land.

First making a watery splashdown off the coast of Tallahassee and quickly being rushed away on stretchers, the pair were joined by SpaceX‘s Crew-9 astronauts, Nick Hague and Aleksandr Gorbunov.

Although Hague and Gorbunov have been with Williams and Wilmore since September 2024, all four had to wait for the Crew-10 relief team to arrive so they could fly back on the Dragon capsule.

With conspiracy theories that the Biden administration ‘abandoned’ the NASA astronauts up there, President Donald Trump piled on the pressure and told Elon Musk to ‘go get’ them. The White House has since thanked the POTUS for his involvement, while there have been vocal cheers on social media for Musk.

When not busy slashing budgets as the head of the DOGE, he’s also known as the CEO of SpaceX.

Elon Musk soon took to the microphone to discuss the rescue mission, telling Fox News how it could’ve played out very differently.

Following two missions being called off, Crew-10 finally docked with the ISS on March 16. There was a brief handover before Williams, Wilmore, Hague, and Gorbunov undertook the 17-hour journey back to Earth.

According to Musk, there was a real danger that the whole craft could ‘disintegrate’. Walking us through the various issues through the different stages, Musk said: “On the ascent phase, there’s a chance that the first or second stage will blow up.”

Saying that it’s ‘remarkable’ when you see a rocket, Musk admits he tends to think of all the things that could go wrong. He continued: “You could have a first stage failure, a second stage failure, a stage separation failure, the Dragon could fail to separate from the rocket, the trunk could fail to separate from Dragon, there could be an engine failure on the spacecraft itself.”

The tech billionaire concluded: “When it’s coming back, it’s coming in so fast, it’s a blazing meteor, and if anything happens to the heat shield, the whole craft is going to disintegrate.”

Saying that it’s amazing that humans can go into orbit and back, Musk went on to hype the innovation of the Starship rocket that will hopefully make multi-planetary living a real possibility.

With his focus previously on getting Williams and Wilmore back home safely, he can now turn his attention to going further afield.

As the recent spate of exploding SpaceX rockets has shown, Musk’s musings on the ‘remarkable’ nature of getting crews up to the ISS and back really start to hit home.

While Williams and Wilmore are now thrust into a ‘brutal’ recovery regime, we’re sure it’s worth it not to be floating 250 miles above Earth for the foreseeable future.
